Happy Halloween!

Thanks to those of you who kept us in your thoughts and prayers during Sandy. Amazingly, we fared really well and never even lost power. I still don't know how that happened since the eye of the storm passed right over us! But, there is devastation close by. Our favorite beach resorts have been heavily damaged and the people in northern NJ and NY are suffering greatly. I grew up on Long Island and have many friends still there, so my prayers are with them. It's hard to get excited about Halloween when there's so much going on. Thankfully, for the kids, everything is still on for this evening. We ended up not having school again today, so they are happy playing and preparing for tonight.

I thought I'd share some cards that I made recently using Webster's Once Upon a Halloween.

The base of each card is a WP journaling card. I added a bunch of embellishements to each.
This one has some ric rac trim and a sticker.
This one uses the sentiment stickers along with some twine.

And my favorite kitty cameo is layered onto a piece of trim here.

Hope wherever you are today, you have a nice Halloween.
Thanks for stopping by!

Hurricane Sandy!

As I write this, hurricane Sandy is on her way. Very scary! I figured I'd post this morning while we still have power. Who knows what will happen after we lose it. The latest graphic shows Sandy passing right over our house! I've been praying for all of those who will be affected by this storm. At some point, we will be heading into the basement. Not a fun event at all...

Since the weather is so lousy, I thought I'd post a page from a nicer time of year - the summer! This one shows Ryan and one of his buddies at the pool.

He learned the word 'chums' last year and loves using it. I used a mix of Webster's Best Friends and Game On.  The reds and blues of the lines are perfect with the picture.

I added some Elle's Studio's tags as accents. They are perfect with the line.

The little fabric ticket peeking out behind the photo was a fun touch.

Another fun accent from the Best Friends line is the speech bubble paper. I tied it in to the title. I cut the word with my Silhouette and cut the sunburst with it, too.

So, that's about it for now. Not sure when I'll be able to get back on. Wish us luck!

Happy Friday!

Another week has flown by! So glad that it's Friday. This week my refrigerator died. Waaah. It gets better. I threw a bunch of stuff out, put some in our mini fridge in the garage (Fran's beers got evicted) and put some in my neighbors fridge. Well, they went away and left me a key so I could get my food. I went over the other night and the key broke off in the lock! Ack! Then, yesterday, I discovered the mini-friedge died. I'm 'refrigerator cursed'. Luckily, I got some time to hit Sears yesterday and ordered a new one that will be coming tomorrow. Just in time for the hurricane....

So, for some good news.... I got a great email this week. Will be able to share something fun next week....

Crate is releasing it's Valentine line, 'Fourteen', soon and showed it on the blog yesterday. It's ADORABLE!! I'm still in love with Paper Heart, last years line and this one is just as cute. Here are some of my favorite images.

As always, the chipobard is my favorite. And these darling images don't disappoint!

LOVE the standouts. And those vellum banners are definitely some of my new favorite embellies.
Check out that gigantic chevron! I know exactly what I'm going to do with it. LOVE the colors

So, I'll leave you with a Crate fall project. I did this one for the October Creative Weekly. I cut several labels with my Silhouette and used them as design elements. The fun, retro sign was also cut with the Silhouette.

Well, thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great weekend!

Oh, Baby!

Now that my baby is 9 and into the 'kid' world, I have to admit I'm craving the baby years. I'd love another little one and I'd love to relive the pre-school, stay at home Mommy years. Sigh. Unfortunately, being on the downslide to 50 means that there will be no more babies here. But, I CAN use some fun baby goodies from Crate to create baby projects!

This first one is a booklet I made as a gift for a friend who just had a little girl.
She has two older sons (8 and 10) and I thought it would be fun to make a keepsake for the new little one. I created it with envelopes and made them into pockets to hold a message from each family member.

I used lots of Crate Little Bo Peep papers, stickers, and chipboard on here.

Between each envelope is a page created from a Hambly transparency. I thought they could add photos to this page.

Of course, I added doilies in. I think I add them to everything. They are such a fun accent!

I cut their names with my Silhouette and accented them with some Studio Calico Wood Veneers.
Finally, I punched holes in everything and bound them together with some twine. It was a really simple, yet fun, gift to make!

Speaking of Little Bo Peep, I also created a layout using it.

This is my friend's daughter when she was a baby. She's snuggling with her grandmother.
I added some Studio Calico Heyday goodies to this, along with chipboard and twine.
I finished it off with some mist splatters and gems.
It's so fun to create with pink for a change of pace!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for checking out my baby projects today. Now, I'm off to the world of baseball, archery and scouts, LOL!
Have a great day. :)

Random Cards

It seems like either it rains or it's a drought around this blog! For a while, I hardly had anything to share. And now I have TONS! LOL. So, today, I'm going to post a couple of cards that I've done recently.

This first one was for Emma's. I used some Studio Calico Heyday collection here. The sentiment stamp is from Pebbles and the banner stamp is MME.

I added a doily and some twine and then topped it off with a heart veneer. I'm running out of those and will be so bummed when they are gone!

Next up is this card using Carta Bella. I layered some of their stickers on the card but adding them to paper and cutting them out, then adhering them with foam adhesive.
I think the gems and the Sparkler added just the right amount of bling. :)

So, just a quickie post today, but I will be back with some more soon.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Friday!

Yay! We made it through another week. This one did fly by. It's starting to cold around here, which, as you know, does not make me very happy. But, as much as I complain about fall arriving, I do love everything that goes along with it. Most notably is my annual trip to Linvilla Orchards. I'll be heading there with Ryan and my SIL this weekend. We have gone every year since Ryan was born!  This marks our tenth year. (Where does time go???)

Anyway, here is a layout I made with one of my Linvilla pics from last year. Ryan loves those painted thingys that you put your head through for photos. Do they have a name?? I created an ombre background for this one and love the way it turned out. The papers are from several different Crate Paper lines.

I added some chipboard, a Standout and some wood veneers to accent the picture, but decided to keep the embellishing to a minimum so my background would stand out.

I had several circles left on my table, so I made a card to go along with it. I recently got some distress stains and added a few splats. Aren't they fun???

That's it for today! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great weekend. :)

Crate Paper On Trend

If you are looking for the Webster's Blog Hop, click HERE after you read this post. :) You have until Thursday, 10/11 to comment for a chance at winning!

My box of goodies arrived from Crate the other day, and OH MY, I'm in heaven. Seriously. The new lines are so pretty. Such great colors and patterns. I really liked them online, but in person they are even better. I decided to make a set of cards using On Trend right away!

I decided to do a cream colored background, add a doily and take it from there. I really like how these turned out.
This first card uses a strip of 6 by 6 paper and a border sticker as it's base. I added the chipboard oval and adhered the sticker over it with some foam adhesive.
I topped it with the paper flower topped with a brad. For the sentiment, I simply layered a sticker over the wood veneer.

This next card is rather simple, but I love it. I layered a chipboard butterfly over the paper/doily combo.

Then, I adhered a bit of the vellum banner across the butterfly. The banners are so much fun and I can't wait to use one on a layout!
My last card was another simple one to create. I started with the patterned paper and then adhered the doily over it.
Finally, I topped it with two pieces of chipboard. Super simple!

Can you see why I'm loving this line? The colors are so fun!

Speaking of fun, Webster's is releasing their mid-season collection and it's awesome.

I'll be sharing more about this soon, but I KNOW you're going to love it!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
